Keyword Lists → Feature Overview

Keyword Lists provide a centralized hub for saving and monitoring your most important keywords. By organizing all your critical search terms in one place, you can effortlessly access current data without repeatedly conducting the same searches. This powerful feature automatically updates metrics and insights, allowing you to track performance trends, monitor competitive shifts in rankings and advertising strategies, and make informed decisions based on the latest data.

Availability and Requirements

The Shelf Intelligence module includes two complementary keyword features - both accessible from separate sections in the left-hand navigation panel:

Keyword Lists allow you to create and organize unlimited keywords across unlimited lists without any contractual quantity restrictions. These lists help you categorize keywords for research and analysis purposes.

Tracked Keywords are specifically allocated for Share of Voice monitoring and are limited to the quantity defined in your contract. This feature helps you track competitive performance for your most important terms.

Both features require you to have the Shelf Intelligence module as part of your contract, but they function independently within the platform. Without the Shelf Intelligence module in your contract, neither Keyword Research nor Keyword Lists will appear in your left-hand navigation panel.

Please see Keywords Lists vs Tracked Keywords for more information on the differences in the two features.

Don't hesitate to contact your Customer Success Manager to add Shelf Intelligence to your account or discuss expanding the allocation of your tracked keywords.

Key Benefits and Use Cases

Centralized Keyword Tracking and Collaboration - Easily keep track of the keywords that matter most to you and your team in one place. Teams across marketing, retail, and advertising can work from the same keyword list, ensuring alignment on strategy and execution.

Quick Access to Always up-to-Date Metrics - Reference your Keyword List anytime you need access to Keyword data. See key metrics—such as estimated search volume, volume trends, seasonality, Ease to Rank score, and ad presence—without having to pull reports or run individual keyword lookups repeatedly manually. Curated lists eliminate the need to search for and analyze the same terms repeatedly.

Monitoring Ad Coverage - By creating lists with high-priority keywords, you can quickly assess your ad presence and identify gaps where competitors may be gaining traction. To do this, ensure you have your advertising accounts integrated with Cobalt. Review the ‘Ad Presence’ column in your lists or use a filter to surface keywords not included in your ads. Use the data available to asses if the keywords should be added to a campaign. Tip: Create a new list of keywords you want to test in your campaign to keep your data analysis clean.

Stay Ahead of Trends - Seasonality and trend data make it easy to spot emerging opportunities or declining keywords, allowing you to proactively adjust your advertising and content strategies. Use these metrics to help: 30 and 90 day Trends, Seasonality, Peak/Rising/Falling Week.

Better Campaign Planning - Keyword Lists can help teams prioritize where to focus ad spend by surfacing high-value keywords with substantial search volume and reasonable ranking difficulty. Metrics like Suggested Bids can help you budget accordingly. Other metrics available when you integrate your advertising accounts like 30 - day Ad Costs and Sales can give you quick insight into the impact of a keyword on your bottom line.

Competitor Intelligence - Discover, Track, and Monitor the top-indexed keywords for your competitor's products. To do this, use a reverse ASIN search for up to 10 ASINs at a time in the Keyword Research module. Add the top keyword results to a list and monitor the results over time. Here you can spot keywords that aren’t part of your Ad Campaigns if your advertising accounts are integrated with Cobalt.

Listing Optimization - Create a list of keywords that the top ASINs in your niche are indexed for, so you can use them to create or update your product listings. The data available, like Search Volume and Relevancy Score, can help to prioritize which keywords should go in your title versus other places in your listing.
