Cobalt's Custom Text widget can help you add notes on particular data points to your dashboard. You can also use this feature to add links to important documents.
How to Set Up a Custom Text Widget
- Navigate to Dashboards > your Dashboard > + Add Widget > Custom Text.
- Enter in the information you want to appear within Dashboards into the Text Content section.
- Once you are satisfied with the configuration of your widget, click Submit. (If you wish to add any additional information, read below to better tailor your custom text.)
Optional Configurations
These configurations within Custom Text are optional when creating your widget; however, some of these data points may be helpful.
- Widget Title → Name your widget to distinguish it from other widgets that may be similar.
- Description → Describe what the widget is intended to show.
- Size Adjustment → Alter the size of the widget to fit in different areas of your dashboard (this can only be done once the widget has been saved into your dashboard).
Use Cases
Here are some ways you could use metric widgets for in-depth insights:
- Write out highlights or key points from specific data widgets you made to give better context to those in your team or your client who might not be as familiar with the data.
- Add breaks/blank space to dashboards to make them more visually appealing.
- Create titles or subtitles for different sections of data within one dashboard.
- Add specific talking points into a dashboard to help guide you when reporting that information to your team.
