Within Dashboards, you can customize the color palette used for widgets. This gives you more control over the visual appearance of your charts while improving readability and consistency.
This feature is currently available for dashboard widgets only, specifically:
- Categorical charts
- Time series charts with Group By options
In future updates, we plan to expand this functionality to other tools, including Shelf Intelligence.
During the Dashboard creation process, you can select from predefined color palettes or create your own custom palette. This allows you to:
- Choose color schemes that match your preferences or branding
- Improve chart visibility
- Reduce similar colors appearing in the same chart
- Create a more cohesive and standardized dashboard appearance
Choosing a Color Palette
To change a widget's color palette:
- Navigate to your dashboard's widget and open the configuration modal by choosing Edit from the three-dot menu
- From the Colors dropdown, choose one of the prebuilt palette or choose the 'Customize' option to create your own color palette.
Creating a Customized Palette
To create and assign your own customized color palette:
- Navigate to your dashboard's widget and open the configuration modal by choosing Edit from the three-dot menu
- From the Colors dropdown, choose the 'Customize' option, which will open a Customize Colors modal.
- From here, make any adjustments to your customized palette as needed. You can:
- Remove colors using the X on the color swatch
- Add colors using the + and either select the color or enter a HEX, HSB, or RGB code.
- Reorganize colors by dragging and dropping the color swatches.
- Click save.
Things to note:
- 'Consistent' is the default color palette. The default palette can not be changed.
- Your customized palette will be saved for you to select for other widgets as desired. It will be saved until the 'reset' custom palette option is used.
- Customized palettes are user-specific and will not be visible to others in your organization.
- Currently, you can only save 1 customized color palette per user.
- The 'Consistent' palette automatically assigns the same colors to a series of data across all charts in your dashboards, making it easier to correlate information. Please note that while colors are picked for you to keep them consistent, this palette doesn't make sure that the colors next to each other will stand out from one another.
- The color palette must be updated widget by widget. There is currently no way to update all widgets to a new color palette at once.
